SAZERAC presents:

Metals and dust at high-redshift

Date: 24-25 May 2022

Time: 14:00-17:00 UTC

SOC: Enrico Garaldi (Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics), Benedetta Ciardi (Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics), Valentina D'Odorico (Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica)

Location: Zoom, YouTube, and Slack

The last decade has witnessed the discovery of higher and higher-redshift quasars and large improvements in the quality of their spectra, allowing for the first time to systematically probe the abundance of metals deep into the reionization epoch. More recently, facilities like ALMA allowed astronomers to unveil the presence of large amount of dust in z>6 galaxies, not without raising questions about its production mechanisms and properties. This SAZERAC SIP aims at fostering discussions and reflections on the current state of knowledge about metals and dust deep in the reionization epoch. The main questions that will be addressed are

This SAZERAC SIP will cover two half-days (3h/day), and will follow the structure of previous SAZERAC SIP meetings.

We invite researchers to submit their abstracts on this topic. During the selection for the contributed talks, priority will be given to graduate students and early-career scientists. To apply to give a talk we invite researchers to submit their abstracts on this topic via this link by 24 April 2022.

To participate otherwise you need only sign-up for the general SAZERAC mailing list through which connection info will be shared. Additionally, discussion on the subject is encouraged between the participants through a Slack channel hosted by the SAZERAC team.

By participating in this SAZERAC sip you agree to abide by the SAZERAC code-of-conduct. For queries about this sip please contact the sip chair Enrico Garaldi.
